2022 CIIE-China International Economics and Technology Administration Summit came to a successful conclusion on November 8. Co-hosted by Council for International Economic and Technology Administration and China Soft Capital Management Group Co., LTD., it was one of the few summits held at the 2022 CIIE. During the Summit, NaaS Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: NAAS) and its strategic partner Kuaidian Power offset the carbon emissions generated during the Summit with the carbon emission reduction generated by electric vehicle charging service, which was approved by Beijing Environmental Exchange, thus the Summit realized carbon neutrality in true sense.
It is reported that as early as 2019, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued Carbon Neutral Implementation Guidelines for Large-scale Events (Trial) (hereinafter referred to as the Guidelines) in accordance with the principle of carbon inclusion. After accurately verifying the carbon emissions and carbon footprint generated by the whole cycle activities of a conference, such as preparation, transportation, accommodation and the venue, the carbon emissions generated by the theory can be offset through various ways like purchasing carbon sinks, planting forest or purchasing voluntary emission reductions, so as to achieve a zero-carbon event in real sense. This Summit has created a number of “first” through multi-party preparations.
Realize energy saving and carbon control during a conference for the first time
According to the final accounting, this Summit produced just 5,503 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent, a low emission compared with other conferences. The credit shall be given to the organizer’s awareness of “open source and reduce costs”, namely, to control carbon emissions as funds and make great efforts in “reducing costs”. The venue was equipped with energy-saving lamps and electronic screens, and the forum was held both online and offline to save carbon emissions generated by transportation. When gathering ambassadors from many countries and representatives of scientific research circles, government and enterprises from all over the world, it also realized a cloud conference in the true sense. The perfect interaction online and offline finally completed the Summit on the same day with a lower carbon emission equivalent.
